Resolve

Resolve Course

At St. Mary’s we’ll be running a course through the month of February which will help us to think about how to make positive and lasting change in our lives. It’s called Resolve, and is made up of 4 sessions, each an hour long. We’ll be meeting in the Heritage Room in the Fairford Community Centre, every Wednesday in February at 7.30pm - starting on the 1st of February.

If you are wondering about how to enact positive changes in your life, this may be the group for you! If you’re interested, you can check out an introductory video online at www.theresolvecourse.org, and give Rev’d Caroline a ring on 712467 either to get more information, or to put your name down to attend.

Thirst

Bible Study and discussion for those in secondary school 6:30 to 8:00 in the Fairford Community Centre each Wednesday during term time.

Charity of the Month:
The Leprosy Mission

The Leprosy Mission

Over the month of February, we’ll be supporting The Leprosy Mission as our Charity of the Month. The Leprosy Mission is an international Christian charity that diagnoses, treats and offers specialist care, to leprosy patients. Their aim is to transform and empower the lives of people affected by leprosy.

Leprosy is a disease of poverty and as well as providing healthcare, The Leprosy Mission offers rehabilitation, education, vocational training, small business loans, housing and fresh water supplies and sanitation to tens of thousands of people each year.

Widely believed to be the world's oldest disease, leprosy is also one of the world's most stigmatised diseases. World Health Organisation figures reveal there are more than 200,000 new cases of leprosy diagnosed globally each year. Globally, there are more than three million people living with irreversible disabilities, including blindness, as a result of the late treatment of lepros.y

The countries with the highest number of new diagnoses are India, Brazil and Indonesia followed by some of the African nations. More than half of all new cases of leprosy are diagnosed in India which remains home to a third of the world’s poorest people.

For us the only times we might think about Leprosy is when we hear about it in various Bible stories. Just as Jesus reached out to lepers, the Leprosy Mission reaches out today.
