Christian Aid Week 12 to 18 May

Christian Aid Week 12 to 19 May

Churches Together Around Fairford will be holding a Street Collection outside Londis and the Co-op on Wednesday 15th and Saturday 18th May. We would be most grateful for volunteers to hold the tins. If you are able to help us please contact Maureen Partington (712480) or Mary Mawle (712174) as the more people we have the less time each of us will need to be on duty.

Fairford Festival

Churches Together Around Fairford are planning a 'Quiet Space' tent at the Festival, so do call in to see us. There will be a book stall selling a variety of items, people to pray with you if you would like that or just somewhere peaceful for a cold drink whilst you listen to gentle Taize music, between 2.0 and 5.0pm each day.

On the Saturday we will enter a 'Walking Float' in the Festival Parade. Children and adults are welcome to join us, dressed for the theme of 'Space', which we are expanding to include 'Creation', so lots of stars and moons but also animals and birds. Come and join the fun!

Charity of the Month:
Train a Priest Fund

Train a Priest Fund

The TAP Fund was conceived by Rosamund Essex, a former Church Times editor, in response to hearing of the hardship experienced by married ordinands on grants calculated for single, young men.

Since 1952 more than 6000 ordinands and their families have received valuable help from the Fund, in the form of top-up grants to help with living expenses and emergency grants from the Special Hardship Fund. This year everything raised in the TAP appeal will go into the Special Hardship Fund.

Anyone in training for the priesthood, whether full- or part-time, at a college or on a course, can apply for an emergency grant from the Fund. The grants are designed to provide immediate assistance in the event of an unforeseen financial crisis - a broken-down car, a failed computer, a faulty heating boiler, or something more serious, such as funeral expenses.

Music in Country Churches

Music in Country Churches

24th and 25th May

St.Mary’s church in Fairford is fortunate to have many concerts during the year. We are particularly fortunate this year to have a further visit from ‘Music in Country Churches’. This is a Charitable Trust set up in 1989 with the active support of HRH The Prince of Wales, with the aim of supplying music of exceptional quality in beautiful rural churches.

This year on 24th and 25th May we have two evening concerts with world class artists and soloists. The main focus this year is to help the church in Down Ampney.

If you feel you could offer help in any way please contact:- Alison Godsal 01285 713101 or email alisongodsal@mclweb.net
