Charity of the Month:
St Luke's Healthcare for the Clergy

St Luke's Healthcare for the Clergy

St Luke’s Healthcare for the Clergy has a long history of supporting the health and well-being of the Anglican clergy. Established in 1892 as St Luke’s Hostel, later known as St Luke’s Hospital in Fitzroy Square, London, which served the clergy and their families. With its very high reputation for the quality of its care and compassionate nature of its staff, it was greatly loved by the clergy. The Consultants gave their time free of charge and the running costs were covered by donations from parishes, trusts, livery companies and legacies.

In 2009, due to spiralling costs, the Hospital building in Fitzroy Square closed. St Luke’s Hospital for the Clergy became St Luke’s Healthcare for the Clergy. Its vision is still for a physically and psychologically healthy Anglican clergy, with healthy families. Through its network of eminent Honorary Consultants, clergy are still helped to maintain their key role in serving the community. Healthcare is delivered in a compassionate, confidential and timely way, and feedback shows that St Luke’s is greatly appreciated by the members of the clergy and their families who use its services.

DEMANDS ON CLERGY - inspirational preacher… finance expert… leader… counsellor… peacemaker… community organiser… school governor… public speaker… prayer leader… teacher… spiritual director… youth worker.

Is it any wonder that sometimes members of the clergy need a little extra support with health and wellbeing?

Further information about St Luke’s Healthcare for the clergy is available from the leaflets in the church. The work of this charity is caring for those who care for others – we hope you will be generous in your help to St Luke’s to maintain and extend this important service which indirectly benefits us all.
