Report from the Youth trip to Romania

Thanks to all the generous people that donated to fund raising—this summer I have spent possibly the best week of my life with some amazing people and kids!

We travelled to Heathrow in the early hours of July 30th, flew to Budapest, Hungary and met up with members Scripture Union Romania. We travelled into Romania and helped with a church club for 4 days, with some home visits in the evenings.

Everyone worked so hard and made an incredible team! I feel so lucky to have met all of you and learnt so many new things from each and every person!

Meeting all of the children and their families was an honour and seeing the impact that the camp had on each of them was touching. I loved spending time with them, helping with crafts, playing games, and most importantly teaching them about Jesus.

It brought me such joy to see God work through all of the team and through the Christians in the village. I’ve made friends for life! I loved all the team so much!

  • Printing the magazine is approximately 2 hours per month
  • Stapling and distribution is another job, approximately 2-3 hours each month
  • To edit the magazine takes approximately10 hours per month. You will need knowledge of , and access to, Microsoft publisher software
  • Holiday cover or rota for 3-6 months each year would be ideal. Training can be given

Charity of the Month:
Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI)

Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution

The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution is a welfare charity which changes the lives of farming people for the better. They offer financial support to farming people in hardship of all ages, and treat every application for support on its own merits, working with compassion and discretion.

To qualify for long-term financial support, applicants must normally be 65 or over and have worked in farming for at least 10 years. Dependants can also qualify for assistance. The trustees retain the discretion to help people at all times.

The trust provides short-term and long-term support to people and many become ‘full beneficiaries’ of the charity, receiving ongoing regular payments. Every case is different and the help offered is wide ranging.

Retreat 8th-10th March 2019

Our retreat is taking place at Nympsfield again next year, a delightful Cotswold village between Tetbury and Stroud. We have been returning here for several years, as the accommodation and facilities are so good, and it is very near to us. We leave Fairford between 4:00-5:00 on the Friday and return after lunch on Sunday. We all have our own rooms; and the cost of all this with excellent home cooking is £100 for the weekend.

Our retreat leader this year will be Angela Milton. This year it will be a silent retreat and there will be opportunities to be quiet and reflective.

If you would like to join us, please let me know. Joanne Holden, email .
